From June 2-26, the College of Education & Human Development at Texas A&M will offer free programs for children to learn the Chinese & Korean cultures and languages. Held at Pebble Creek Elementary School in College Station, TX, the program is open to incoming third and fourth grade students with no prior experience in Chinese or Korean languages. The program is open to students from any school districts, including private schools.

Aggie STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at Texas A&M University will host its sixth annual Aggie STEM Summer Camp program for middle and high school students. This summer, the program consists of four separate camps being held from June 1 through July 25, 2015.

From East Texas to Central Africa, Michelle Steffee Bellomy ’95 has traveled four continents teaching elementary students. The Tyler, Texas native was a recipient of a Lechner Scholarship while a student at Texas A&M University, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. Michelle currently lives in Cameroon, Africa with her husband, Charles, and their daughter, Eliza.

The department of Teaching, Learning and Culture (TLAC) recently awarded Graduate Fellowships to two graduate students for their outstanding work and dedication to the department. The Texas A&M Institute for Advanced Study (TIAS) has also awarded a Heep Graduate Fellowship to two TLAC graduate students in mathematics education.

We are excited about hiring several new clinical faculty and tenure-track faculty and thrilled to have Dr. Roger Howe join the faculty in spring 2014 and 2015 as Visiting Professor and Eminent Scholar in Residence and TIAS Fellow.
