Vince Chen, a doctoral student in kinesiology, studying under Dr. Steven Riechman, is part of a Texas A&M University collaborative team that won first place in the 2013 "Go Viral to Improve Health: IOM-NAE Health Data Collegiate Challenge." The team’s health related mobile app, called H-Radar, tracks and reports nearby infectious diseases by utilizing a cell phone's GPS combined with real-time health bulletins. The first place finish comes with a $10,000 prize.

When Skip Johnson '53 was a senior at Texas A&M University, he sold his senior boots so he could take his girlfriend to Ring Dance. In 2010, he sold some corporate stocks so he could establish a scholarship in the College of Education and Human Development in honor of this same girlfriend, with whom he will be celebrating 60 years of marriage Dec. 27, 2012.
