EHRD 670: Women and Education

Summer 2014 Mon. June 2nd - Fri. July 18th

This course is open to graduate students and focuses on women's experiences as they engage the project of education.  By the end of this course, students will be able to

  • Construct a personal perspective on the relationship between gender and education
  • Describe how women's positionalities (race, ethnicity, class, national origin, sexual orientation, religious identification, etc.) influence their educational experiences
  • Critically analyze theories, research, teaching materials, and popular media for systematic representation of women in educational contexts
  • Identify issues of authority, positionality, and power in classrooms and other learning contexts
  • Apply new methods of pedagogy based on collaboration within environments of safety
  • Evaluate and take a sound position on issues that impact the education experiences of women in both formal and informal environments
