Brian Duncan Receives Clinical Teaching Award From APTA

ALEXANDRIA, VA - Physical therapist Brian Duncan, PT, DPT, has received the Signe Brunnström Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in recognition of his excellence in teaching effectiveness in the physical therapy clinical setting. Dr. Duncan serves as manager of the orthopedic physical therapy residency program at the Harris County Hospital District in Houston.

As a clinical instructor, he mentors students in a collaborative model that facilitates the integration of clinical reasoning skills in orthopedics and the implementation of manual therapy skills. In addition to his role at Harris County Hospital District, Dr. Duncan is an adjunct faculty member at Texas Woman's University and on the faculty of the Manual Therapy Institute Fellowship Program. As a clinician, he served as a senior and staff physical therapist for The Harris County Hospital District between 2002 and 2008.

Dr. Duncan completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Texas Woman's University this year, fellowship training in orthopedic and manual therapy in 2007, and his board certification in orthopedic physical therapy in 2005. He completed his MS in physical therapy from Texas Woman's University in 2002, and BS in exercise physiology from Texas A&M University in 2000
