CEHD To Honor Faculty, Staff And Alumni At Fall Celebration Friday

The College of Education and Human Development will honor outstanding faculty, staff and alumni at its fall awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday (Sept. 18) at the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.

Outstanding Alumni honorees include Eddie J. Davis '67, '73, '80; Celia R. Goode-Haddock '72; Gertrude B. Henry '95; and Deanna F. Yates '91. The Outstanding Alumni Early Career honoree is Jo Ann Bludau '94.

The honorees of the Association of Former Students College-Level Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching are Janet Hammer, clinical associate professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, and Elisa Beth McNeill, instructional associate professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology.

Michael D. Spies, assistant director of admissions at Texas A&M, will be awarded the John E. Trott Jr. Award in Student Recruiting.

The Advisory Council Awards will honor Erin M. McTigue, assistant professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, with the Outstanding New Faculty Award; Melinda L. Grant, instructional associate professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, with the Extraordinary Service Faculty Award; and Cathy Watson, assistant to the department head in the Department of Educational Psychology, with the Outstanding Staff Award.

The Outstanding Faculty Mentoring Award will be presented to Michael R. Benz, professor in the Department of Educational Psychology.

Dissertation of the Year Award recipients are Olya Verkhohlyad, educational administration; Tufan Adiguzel, educational psychology; Young U Ryu, health and kinesiology; and Mei Wu Hoyt, teaching, learning and culture.
