College Honors Faculty, Staff and Alumni at Award Ceremony

The College of Education and Human Development honored outstanding faculty, staff and alumni at its fall college awards ceremony.

Outstanding Alumni honorees included Carla Chapman Amacher ’93 and ’95; Xitao Fan ’93; and John E. Trott, Jr. ’66 and ’72. Jennifer L. Milam ’08 was the Outstanding Alumni Early Career Honoree.

The honorees for the Association of Former Students College-Level Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching were lecturer Robert (Jay) Woodward and Associate Professor Dalun Zhang, both from the Department of Educational Psychology.

David De Sousa, senior transfer admissions counselor for the Office of Admissions and Records, was awarded the John E. Trott, Jr. Award in Student Recruiting.

The Carolyn S. Lohman Advocacy Leadership Award was presented to Carolyn Swearingen Lohman, member of the Dean’s Advisory Council.

The Advisory Council Awards honored Terah Venzant Chambers, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, with the Outstanding New Faculty Award. Fred Bonner, also in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, received the Extraordinary Service Faculty Award. Sylvia Hubble, administrative coordinator in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, earned the Outstanding Staff Award.

The Outstanding Mentor Award was presented to Rafael Lara-Alecio, professor in the Department of Educational Psychology.

Dissertation of the Year recipients included Lynn Hemmer, educational administration and human resource development; Alyn Kristen Kay, educational psychology; and Claudia Benavides-Espinoza, health and kinesiology.
