Dr. George Cunningham Named 2016 President-Elect for the North American Society for Sport Management

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The membership of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) has elected Dr. George Cunningham, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research at Texas A&M University, as the 2016 President-Elect. Dr. Cunningham plans to continue to move NASSM forward in research, teaching, and service. To do so, he plans to (1) make the NASSM activities more inclusive and accessible for all members; (2) further professionalize the business operations; and (3) offer professional development opportunities to new members and students. Dr. Cunningham previously served as President-Elect from 2008-2009.

About the Position:

The President-Elect is a one-year position. The roles and responsibilities include serving as a liaison and overseeing the Janet B. Parks NASSM Research Grant program, along with coordinating conference bids. After the 2015-2016 term, the President-Elect transitions into the role of President.

Founded in 1986, the purpose of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) is to promote, stimulate, and encourage study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management.
