A farewell reception for Dr. Kelli Peck Parrott will be held Wednesday, May 4th at the Stark Gallery in the MSC. The College of Education and Human Development will commemorate her 15 years of service at Texas A&M.
“I have loved every bit of these 15 years,” Dr. Peck Parrott said. “This is an amazing place because of the amazing people. It is not easy to leave.”
In addition to her time as a clinical professor in the department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, Dr. Peck Parrott was the longtime program chair for the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (SAAHE) — a graduate program that gives students coursework and practicum experience for administrative leadership and development.
“I was fortunate that I inherited such a great program when I came in that was built on a great framework,” Dr. Peck Parrott said.
Dr. Peck Parrott oversaw a number of additions to the SAAHE program. These additions helped students develop a stronger professional foundation and increased nationwide student recruitment and rigor throughout the program.
“Putting a practicum informational in place for students and encouraging them go through the process has helped them to be successful,” she said. “The growth and development of my students has been amazing. They walk out as seasoned professionals.”
A majority of students in the program are selected for a number of national and international internships.
“Dr. Peck Parrott brought a dynamic to SAAHE that will truly be missed,” said SAAHE student Melanie McKoin. “She is a mentor who has fostered an environment of care that makes this academic program far more than just a program.”
Dr. Peck Parrott’s farewell reception will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, in the Stark Gallery.
