In collaboration with educators and researchers in and outside of the department, Drs. Janet Hammer and Yeping Li of the Department of Teaching, Learning & Culture edited “Teaching at Work,” a themed collection of chapters on teaching and teacher education.

The book, which contains 13 chapters written by 35 scholars, is a themed collection of chapters on teaching and teacher education. According to Dr. Li, studies on such topics are long overdue.

“We hope the inaugural volume will reach a broad global readership,” said Dr. Li, professor and head of the Department of Teaching, Learning & Culture.

The collection emphasizes, not only the importance of effective teaching in teacher preparation, but also the importance of examining teaching as a subject of scholarly study.

With the launch of a new book series, the publication of this volume presents a starting point for expanded and increased collaborations within and across institutions to advance teaching and teacher education. The book series aims to provide a platform that can help facilitate important on-going discussion about teaching and teacher education nationally and internationally, especially in times of change.
