The Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development in the College of Education and Human Development formed a professional partnership with Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City on Nov. 6.

The universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which outlines five objectives they hope to achieve in the next five years.

“This MOU gives us an opportunity to sit back and brainstorm cross cultural prospects because we now have a place to go and people that want us on their campus,” Dr. Larry Dooley, associate professor of human resource development, said.

Dooley initiated the department’s international relationship. He was approached by a former student working at UP to teach a project management certificate for executive master’s students. From there, a bond was formed between EAHR and UP and the two entities decided to put the partnership into writing.

The objectives include faculty and student exchanges, development of training programs, internationalizing curriculum, furthering academic excellence in the U.S. and Mexico and potentially developing a detailed Memorandum of Agreement.

“Hopefully this new partnership is the springboard to getting more formal international relationships across the college.”

The memorandum was signed by Texas A&M’s Vice Provost and Chief International Officer Dr. Michael Benedik and Universidad Panamerica’s Provost Dr. María Teresa Nicolás.
