Dr. Dave Louis, graduate of the higher education program at Texas A&M, was recently awarded the 2014 College of Education New Professor Excellence in Teaching Award. Louis is also the College nominee for the Hemphill-Wells New Professor Excellence in Teaching Award from Texas Tech University.

Louis is currently an assistant professor of higher education at Texas Tech University. His primary research in cross-cultural mentoring focuses specifically on cross-ethnic and cross-gender mentoring. His research is heavily influenced by his time as the university administrator and lecturer at Texas A&M, where he became aware of the many cultural factors that impacted the lives and learning of the students and faculty.

The Excellence in Teaching Award and the Hemphill-Wells New Professor Excellence in Teaching Award are presented to faculty members who have demonstrated exemplary distinction in teaching, research and service. Louis was recognized this spring during the Faculty Honors Convocation at Texas Tech University.
