The Department of Health and Kinesiology (HLKN) is marking another year of record breaking enrollment.

For the fall semester, preliminary 5th day enrollment in HLKN is well over 3,500 students breaking our F13 enrollment record of 3,189.   This ranks HLKN as the largest academic department at Texas A&M University.  HLKN has grown over 11% since last fall’s record enrollment and 60% since the fall of 2008.

Dr. Richard B. Kreider, Head of the Department of Health & Kinesiology noted

Our faculty and staff are pleased to see that our programs continue to attract record numbers of students who want to transform lives through the practice, study and promotion of physical activity, sport and health.   We are also pleased that our recruiting efforts have doubled the number of first generation and minority students enrolled in our programs over recent years making HLKN among the most diverse academic units on campus.  Our increase in enrollment is another indicator that HLKN is on the move toward not only being the largest health and kinesiology program in the country, but the best!
