Erin McTigue, assistant professor of reading education in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, is the inaugural recipient of the 2010 Lynda Brown Faculty Fellowship.

The fellowship is given to advanced assistant professors and newly tenured associate professors in the College of Education and Human Development for excellence in early career performance. It is a three-year fellowship that totals $15,000. McTigue says she has two goals for the funds.

First, she plans to improve the Texas A&M Reading Clinic, which she leads. Second, she will be trained to use a classroom observational tool that she can utilize in an upcoming research project as well as teach to others.
