Ty Warren of Eight Experts to Speak on Sports Medicine, Health Issues

To improve knowledge and practice of sports medicine, health and fitness, Ty Warren, defensive lineman for the New England Patriots; Jon Wertheim, senior writer for “Sports Illustrated;” and other experts will speak at Texas A&M University on Friday, April 1.

The inaugural “Huffines Discussion: Cutting Edge Sports Medicine” will feature eight speakers giving 18-minute talks, ranging in topic from sports medicine for the professional athlete to type 2 diabetes.

The talks are hosted by the Sydney and J.L. Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine & Human Performance, which is housed in the Department of Health and Kinesiology in the College of Education and Human Development.

They are part of ongoing efforts in the college to inform and promote public health and wellness through research and service, particularly in the areas of aging, nutrition, obesity prevention and fitness.

The talks will be held in Rudder Auditorium. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with talks beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
