Wilmore to Receive Hetherington Award

Dr. Jack Wilmore, former department head for Health & Kinesiology, will receive the prestigious Clark W. Hetherington Award from the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education (AAKPE).

First given in 1956, the Hetherington Award is the highest honor the academy bestows on its members.Wilmore was the department head for Health & Kinesiology from 1997 to 2000.

During his time here, the department implemented new health and fitness courses required of all Texas A&M students and a number of dance courses that are included as Visual & Performing Arts elective for the university's core curriculum. Wilmore served as president of AAKPE from 1997 to 1998.
