On Christmas Day 2011, Nikki Altman received news that would change her life forever. Her husband, Staff Sergeant Joseph Altman, was killed in active duty while serving in Afghanistan. Three years later, a scholarship from the Pat Tillman Foundation and enrollment in the College of Education and Human Development’s human resource development bachelor’s degree program gave her life new purpose.

The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded a $4.6 million, two-year contract for its new Texas Research-based Adult Instruction Network Professional Development Consortium to the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University.
